On the morning of the sterilization campaign I received a call about a very sick puppy that had been spotted on a street in La Punta. So, on the way to the campaign I made a detour to pick it up and take it to the vet. When I first saw the poor thing lying in the street I wasn’t sure if she was still alive, but when I picked her up I noticed that she was still breathing. With her eyes all glued up and mucus running from her nose I was pretty sure that she had distemper…which was later confirmed by the vet. Sadly, no help was possible for this young soul. This puppy was the first of many that would succumb to this horrible disease in the following weeks.
